Slots sign up bonus: £384 of staking owed by one batch of spin winnings

£384.00

Staking a hundred free spins owes once their winnings land, where a 40 times counter sits on spin winnings as well as on credit. A hundred spins at 10p return £9.60 in expectation, and 40 times that is the figure printed. Where a British licensee credits those winnings as bonus funds, its limit of ten times reaches them and the counter stops at £96.00. A spin value is often left unpublished, so 10p is used and flagged.

Not one of the offers printed above holds a Great Britain licence. Outside that licence a British player has none of its protection: Gamstop Online cannot shut the door, the ten-times limit on bonus wagering does not bind the operator, and no British complaints body will take up a dispute. You must be 18 or over to open an account anywhere in this rack.

Every figure in the rack is a term the operator itself publishes, read on 14 October 2026. The operator's terms in full are the ones that bind you.

A hundred spins and what their winnings owe

What these offers ask Under a British licence

Handed over £9.60 £9.60
Wagering 40x 10x

The spins half of a sign-up package, not the cash half. A hundred spins at 10p stake £10.00 and return £9.60 where 96 pence comes back on the pound, and that £9.60 is the sum the counter is applied to. Forty times it is £384.00 of staking, retaining £15.36. That is more than the winnings themselves, so nothing is held long enough to carry a price. Ten times it is £96.00 of staking, retaining £3.84 and holding £5.76. A spin value is commonly left unpublished, so 10p is taken from what British casinos almost always fix and labelled as a pattern rather than a term. Ten times belongs to a Great Britain licence, which a cashier licensed in Curacao or Costa Rica does not have. That British limit is written about bonus funds. It therefore reaches a spin win that lands as bonus funds, and nothing published says it covers a free spin itself.

01

Reels are the only product these counters count

Offers of this kind count slots towards their counters, and some say in terms that nothing else does. A sign-up bonus here is therefore a slots bonus whatever else the account can reach.

That is a simplification worth having, because the weighting table is where most licensed bonus arithmetic goes wrong. Reels are the unweighted case: a pound staked on a reel moves the counter by a pound. In the licensed market a pound on blackjack has been recorded moving it by fifty pence and a pound on roulette by thirty, and the regulator looked at weighting during its 2026 reforms and left it alone.

So the figures on this page are the best case for the reader rather than the typical one. Where a game credits less than its face value, the real stakes needed to satisfy £384.00 of counter rise above £384.00, and a weighting table to work that out from is not normally published.

Two sheets price the cash half instead: 100% deposit bonus at one for one, and 200% deposit bonus at double. A casino welcome bonus takes the opening package whole, and matched money holds the unit everything here is measured in.

02

What this market does with a free spin once it wins

Most put their counter on spin winnings. Some pay them clean. Some publish nothing at all about them, which leaves the figure unpriceable in advance.

Four shapes of spin terms found in this market, with the reel conditions beside them. Terms read October 2026

The first row is the only one where a spin win is money. Fifty of the spins in the fourth row are described as cash spins, which is a marketing word rather than a term, and the cashier publishes no counter to confirm what it means.

Three empty cells in the last row are the finding, not an omission on this page. A counter that is not published cannot be served deliberately, and a clock that is not published cannot be beaten.

03

Ninety per cent breaks even at ten times, and 97.5 at forty

90.00 per cent is the payback at which a bonus worked off at the British limit finishes exactly level, whatever the bonus was. Push the counter to 40 times and that break-even payback climbs to 97.5 per cent. At 35 times it is 97.14 per cent.

Eight falling bars showing what ten pounds of bonus is expected to leave after one hundred pounds of staking, from eight pounds at a payback of ninety-eight per cent down through nothing at ninety per cent to a loss at eighty-seven point two five.
The licensed case, build by build. What £10 of bonus is expected to leave once £100 has gone through, at eight paybacks that studios actually publish. The crossing point is 90.00 per cent, and five of the eight builds sit below it. Every percentage on the axis is a published studio figure, from 98.00 at the top to 87.25 at the foot. At the counters used here, the crossing point moves to 97.5 per cent and only the topmost build clears it. Sources: studio game pages as recorded on this press’s fact sheet and the Commission’s wagering provisions, read 13 October 2026.

One published build on the whole sheet sits above 97.5 per cent, at 98.00, and it is a low-volatility title from 2013 rather than anything a sign-up offer is likely to be aimed at. Every other figure recorded here, from 96.71 downwards, finishes under water at a 40 times counter.

Which is the most useful line on the sheet. Whether a licensed bonus is worth taking turns on the build it is worked off; at 40 times no build anybody has printed is expected to carry it through.

04

The build decides the price and the build is on the game’s own screen

Studios ship the same title at several paybacks. One well-known reel game runs at 96.71 per cent by default with published versions at 95.67 and 94.6. Another runs at 96.21 with versions at 94.25, 91.25, 87.25 and around 84.2. A third ships at 96.38 with versions at 94.55, 92.33 and 88.42.

A payback quoted anywhere but inside the game is therefore a default rather than a statement about the copy loaded in front of you. Open the game’s own information panel and read it there. A British licence requires it, or failing it the chance of the winning events occurring, to be available to a customer who has not yet committed.

Two more duties sit in the same provision. The rules of the game have to be reachable before committing, and so does a description of the prizes or of how they are worked out. Those three together are why a reader at a licensed site can always find the number and why a reader elsewhere is relying on the cashier’s goodwill.

Where a studio leaves a field blank this press leaves it blank too. The published figures here are what the studios printed; a volatility rating or a maximum win that a studio does not publish is not supplied from anywhere else.

05

A studio paid £122,835 over five hundredths of a second

1.97 seconds is what one reel game was found to be running at, against a British floor of 2.5. In June 2026 the studio behind it settled at £122,835 plus costs; sixteen of its games fell short in all, by amounts from a thousandth of a second upwards, and its whole British catalogue was switched off in October 2025. The regulator put the cause down to quality control: spins had been timed on a hand stopwatch.

  • 2.5 seconds, a reel. The floor on one cycle at a licensed site. Each cycle needs its own press, so a held-down button starts nothing.
  • 5 seconds, a table. The floor for a licensed casino game played off the reels, which is longer than the reel figure and surprises most people.
  • £5 a cycle, £2 under 25. The stake ceiling on a licensed reel, the larger figure in force since 9 April 2025 and the smaller since 21 May that year.
  • No hurrying the result. A licensed site may not offer turbo, nor quick spin, nor slam stop; a bonus round that costs no further stake is outside the rule.
  • No fanfare over a loss. A licensed game may not play a win sound or a win animation over a return that did not beat the stake.

Not one of those five reaches an unlicensed cashier. How fast a game may run there is unpublished, most print no stake ceiling, and what the screen may celebrate is nobody’s rule but the operator’s.

06

Eight thousand spins is the cash half of the same package

8,000 spins at 10p is what £800 of counter comes to, which is the obligation on £20 of credit at 40 times. The spins half adds 3,840 more wherever the counter lands on spin winnings.

Put those 8,000 spins through at the slowest rate a British licence insists on and they occupy 20,000 seconds, five hours and 33 minutes without a break. It is a floor and not a forecast, and it is a British floor, which is to say these cashiers are free of it.

Autoplay would not help at a licensed site either: the system has to require a customer to commit to each cycle one at a time, with posting blinds in peer-to-peer poker the only stated exception. A licensed lobby also may not offer a way to play several games at once, which closes off the other obvious shortcut.

Put those together and the licensed version of a grind is slower by design. Offers of this kind have no such design, which cuts both ways: a counter of 40 times can be served faster there, and nothing published says how much faster.

07

One batch of a hundred spins, worked through

Six lines. The deposit that qualified for the spins sits outside them, and the spin value is the market’s 10p rather than a published term.

A hundred spins, their winnings served at 40 times

  1. Stakes the batch puts through the reels 100 × £0.10 = £10.00
  2. Expected back where 96 pence returns on the pound £10.00 × 0.96 = £9.60
  3. Counter applied to those winnings £9.60 × 40 = £384.00
  4. Retention over that staking 4% of £384.00 = £15.36
  5. Winnings measured against the retention £9.60 less £15.36 = −£5.76
  6. Expected to be held, where ten times holds £5.76 £0.00

Served at ten times instead, lines three to six read £96.00, £3.84, a surplus of £5.76 and a cost of 67p for each pound held. Four things sit outside the sum. A ceiling of €100 over a batch of spin winnings, where one is written. A clock of one day on a batch in places and three days elsewhere. A reel crediting less than its face value, which raises the real stakes above £384.00. And the batch arriving 25 spins at a time over four days at one of them, which splits the clock as well as the spins. These are expectations across a hundred spins and describe no hundred.

08

Questions about a reel sign-up offer

What do free spins on a sign-up offer actually owe?
£384.00 of staking wherever a 40 times counter is put on spin winnings. A hundred spins at 10p return £9.60 in expectation, and the counter is applied to that. Where a British licensee credits those winnings as bonus funds, its limit of ten times reaches them and the counter stops at £96.00.
Which payback does a bonus need to survive?
90.00 per cent at the British limit of ten times, where the arithmetic finishes exactly level. At 40 times the break-even payback rises to 97.5 per cent and at 35 times to 97.14. One published build on this press’s sheet sits above 97.5, at 98.00 per cent, and every other figure recorded finishes under water at those counters.
Why does the same slot have more than one payback?
Because studios ship several versions of one title. One well-known reel game runs at 96.71 per cent by default with published versions at 95.67 and 94.6; another at 96.21 with versions down to about 84.2. A figure quoted away from the game is a default, so read the number off the game’s own information screen.
Do the spins or the cash come with the longer counter?
They carry the same multiple wherever both are counted, so the spins owe less only because the winnings are smaller. Where no counter is applied to spin winnings, those spins are the one part of such a package expected to survive. Some publish nothing about their spins.
How fast may a slot spin at these cashiers?
Nothing published says. A British licence puts the floor on one reel cycle at 2.5 seconds, each cycle wanting a press of its own. In June 2026 a studio settled at £122,835 plus costs after one game was found running at 1.97 seconds, with sixteen titles short in all and its British catalogue switched off in October 2025.
Is there a maximum stake while a bonus is running?
Few publish one, at €5, and most publish none. A British licence separately holds a reel cycle to £5, dropping to £2 for an account holder under 25, and those two figures are slots rules rather than bonus rules.
How long does the cash half take to play off?
8,000 spins at 10p, which is £800 of counter on £20 of credit at 40 times. Run at the slowest rate a British licence insists on, that is 20,000 seconds, or five hours and 33 minutes without a break. The floor is British, so an unlicensed site is free of it and may run quicker.
What reel protections are missing here?
Five that a licence would supply: a floor on cycle length, a ceiling on the stake per cycle, no turbo or slam stop, no win fanfare over a return that did not beat the stake, and no automatic commitment to the next cycle. The Commission’s register holds no cashier of this kind, and so none of the five is owed.
